Got my car back (powdercoating)

Hey,
Got my wheels powdercoated. Black with 1" red lip. Took longer than expected due that sandblasting didn`t even scratched factory paint, so guy needed to order chemical stripper to clean wheels.

I'm still thinking about adding center cup emblems.

Here is another shot...

Wow, that looks really cool.

I was thinking of doing mine all red (I have the same color scheme as you do). So sandblasting didn't work, huh? That complicates things a bit...

I brought rims to the guy without any center cups and did not even mention to him what car it came from. Then I got call from him, and first thing he asks if those rims off Mercedes or BMW? He said that that that two manufacturers usually have the toughest powedercoat.

Argh, that's too bad. I have a neighbor who has a powder coating business. He was going to take it to his guy to sandblast for $20 per rim and then power coat them for me for $40 or so per rim (neighbor's discount). If it's that hard to get the coating off, this looks less likely...

The guy I used charging $50/wheel for single color (including cleaning/stripping) and $25/wheel for additional color.

Just an idea for you. Try to get heavy duty paint stripper from any auto parts or home improvement store. It is like $25 for 1 gallon.
I used it to clean my boat trailer and it works very good. You can finish the job with sandblasting.
