Nah, really, I have the same problem. Spray on wheel cleaner before I drive about a mile to the quarter car wash. Those front discs ALWAYS make a mess.

Wonder if there will be aftermarket replacement pads that put out less dust?

Oh, and considering you're only getting 34 mpg, maybe you're one of those serious stop and go pedal stompers? Less brake, more coasting, engine braking?

Waxing them seems to make them easier to clean.. but otherwise, I dunno. Unless they have performance low dust brakes for the smart... But then your stop-on-a-dimeability is a little diminished...

Steel wheels and hubcaps. I have several sets of different styles of hubcaps. The wheels get dirty, but the hubcaps conceal the dirt. Change the hubcap and you change the personality of the car. Cheaper than panels.

Doc,

My signature says it all, "Drivin it like I stole it"! Just having TOO much fun driving it

I'm still breaking it in, just under 1K miles

Won't be worrying about MPG's until maybe 2.5K

Dust shields

I thought I'd seen a previous thread about dust shields. This could be one idea:

Brake Dust Shields?
