When considering ultra-low aspect, wide tires, remember that there is a pricey tire pressure monitor in there that you probably don't want to scrunch on a speed bump.

Those (found on Ebay) manufacturers will be right behind you with cast 17" Smart wheels for $499/set.

I have bought these replica wheels before for my MBenzs and Porsches and they are good quality. If a forged wheel can provide significant weight reduction, and still looks great... I would spend a little more for it.

good points here bill.

Old smart makes a good point...

To go much wider requires the tire aspect ratio get smaller and smaller...

to maintain the 22.5" diameter average... 205mm or wider will require 35 aspect... and on a 17" rim 35s have only 1.75" side walls... the TPMS system will be in danger of being crushed... probably also breaking the insides of the air fill stem they are mounted to...so broken $100 sensor and a flat tire is probable...

In my case, I intend to keep the factory alloys and tires as part of an 8 tire rotation scheme... the aftermarket rims and tires will not have the TPMS and I will live with the nag light pestering me....

Firestone debacle

We have TPMS because we asked the lawyers to protect us from ourselves.
Why check the air in your tires when you can sue a big company for lots of money. karl

I don't think 15" tires will fit 16" rims ;)
