thanks for the good words! i am guilty of a dirty smart car. infact, i have not even washed or dressed the tires since i got them 2 days ago. you know how "dry" they look when new. i will snap some shots this weekend when it looks better.

No doubt, they're much heavier. The upside is the car feels much more "planted" and is much less prone to getting blown around. I haven't noticed any effect on performance or braking.

(Oh yeah, they look Ballin' too..)

How's the suspension taking it? Feeling more oF a bUmBy rIdE? That's the single thing scaring me away from larger rims.

Guys- those cars look great, the 17" C-class wheel is a great choice and it keeps it "in the family".

Are the wheels/tires sticking out past the edge of the bodywork? It is hard to tell without a direct front or rear pic.

Keep up the good work

second question....

Did you make a change to the alignment in any way to accomodate the 17" C-class rims?

The rear camber seems excessive with such a wide rear tire... the outside edge might not be on the ground at the factory setting

Thanks,

Bill

Oh, and BTW, just to clarify, Josh (jaxBchSmart) is our customer (and new buddy), he's not here shamelessly pitching stuff (like, for example, me..)

The tread is about even in the front, and maybe 1/2" or so out in the back. There are a TON of pictures of my car on my website ( zenspeed.com ) which might give you a better idea of how they look. But remember, Josh and I are both using what I'd consider to be a fairly extreme setup for the Smart; huge Benz wheels with relatively low offsets. (34 and 36mm if I recall correctly) A set of 16 or 17", 6.5 or 7" wide wheels with 40+mm of offset (and not staggered with huge rears like ours) would tuck perfectly.

No alignment changes required. The rear camber setting appears to be fixed (non adjustable) from the time I've spent under the car, but I might be wrong about that. Anyway, it's moot, everything stays stock. Plenty of clearance at stock ride height too.

dude, on the way home from work got hit by a nasty rain storm. no worries with all the rubber on the road as the car handles much more solid with the new setup. if you think that the smart car attracts mucho attention, wait til you put a set of 17's on the car! nice work johnny.
