Very clever and resourceful, and not a whiney complaint to boot! Excellent post!

Basically the same Bilstein jack that came with the smart forfour, part number: A 454 580 0118 except the W454's head was already modified to engage the bottom ridge of the tridion.

I had one on eBAY order until the German source went out of business and PayPal refunded my money. The W454 part also included a lugbolt wrench though I don't know if it was 15mm.

Bilstein makes them for a number of different manufacturers, each with the appropriate head.

Price of Jack?

Can you tell us how much MB is charging for the aluminum jack? I'm looking for a lightweight jack to take on long trips, and an aluminum one does have a certain appeal, especially if it's compact, too.

Garage
Old thread I'm bumping here.

I've got a spare tire/wheel/bag and wrench on order from Tire Rack.
I'll get a 15mm socket from Sears.
The bags from Tire Rack come in pairs. After I receive the package, anyone interested in the extra bag?

Can anyone tell me where the aluminum jack with the appropriate head is available?
=======================
EDIT (3/24/2009): Received my spare wheel today. I thought several people said how well it fit behind the driver's seat! Wow, they must be short people, LOL. I'm only 67" tall and I can't drive with the seat that far forward. I'll stowe it behind the passenger seat, since it is normally unoccupied. When I have a passenger, they'll not have much leg room.

Oh, and I got my socket from Sears, thanks for the tip Old Smart.

Now, gotta get a jack and I'll be all set for a flat I hope I don't have.

Make sure you get a "deep" 15mm socket or a short extension to get your knuckles away from the wheel.

I don't think that jack is aluminum. I got one just like it (for an Audi A4) and it's bright stamped steel and works like a charm.
I got mine off eBay for under $20 including shipping - and it was brand new. And works like a charm, too.

You can search for either "Audi jack" or "bilstein jack" - and maybe my seller will pop up- He must have load of them since he had a number of auctions running.
