Very clever and resourceful, and not a whiney complaint to boot! Excellent post!
Basically the same Bilstein jack that came with the smart forfour, part number: A 454 580 0118 except the W454's head was already modified to engage the bottom ridge of the tridion.
I had one on eBAY order until the German source went out of business and PayPal refunded my money. The W454 part also included a lugbolt wrench though I don't know if it was 15mm.
Bilstein makes them for a number of different manufacturers, each with the appropriate head.
Can you tell us how much MB is charging for the aluminum jack? I'm looking for a lightweight jack to take on long trips, and an aluminum one does have a certain appeal, especially if it's compact, too.
