New Rims and spacers

So I ordered these rims from Compomotive Motorsports. There sales center mentioned that two sets of Rims have sent out to Smart Owners, Compomotive sent out a pair of MO1661 and MO1672s. The MO1661s that they sent out were whites and the MO1672 were grey charcoal powdercoat. The bolt pattern will not be changed, no spacers on the front and I will need a 10mm spacer on the back set.

Size is a 16 X 7. I am looking into getting 195/45/16s or maybe 50s or even 55s. My Smart is blue/black so I got Blue center caps with a racing silver polish.

My order will take 2 weeks to process (order goes to UK). After that shipment will take approximate 4 weeks to get over here. So timeline is about 6 weeks out putting my delivery time into early August. I am putting in my order for a 10mm spacer. I might just use a 5 lug 112 X 5 spacer since they will be easier to find.

My cost wasn't expensive as the Brabus rims, I think those were a little too expensive. Each rim cost $336 and I will have to pay for ground shipping from Pennsylvania. OUCH!

There are several rim options from Compomotive, if you guys want to give Allen a call over there 800-621-8408. He can walk you through rims and what they offer. I will let upload a pic when I get them and install them. Next thing to deal with is how to get the TPM (tire pressure monitors) transferred over to the new rims, or get new ones...

MO1672

MO1661

Here is there 6 spoke rims that can be matched to the 3 bolt pattern of the Smart car.

You can't use a 5 lug spacer with a 3 lug wheel unless they're re-drilled.

why would you go through all these hassles when you can get the 3 lug wheels here with tires and pressure sensor installed in 3 days ( I GOT MINE - 17" LORINSER), call Darren 480 222 7213 he has them in stock - GREAT SERVICE

I can give you several reasons....

1) Why do I want my car to have Lorinser's? So it can be like yours. I like the fact that my car is different, now making it even more distinct is even a better thing. Yes you have lorinsers, but the 2000+ you spent for them out doesn't make sense to me at least, not for a $15K car, maybe for a E series or higher benz, but not a smart car.
2) Tire cost, 17s cost a quite bit more, I know that for a fact, I have an audi that I decided to up the rim size 1 inch (18's) and nice tires cost a hell of a lot more. My tires will cost under 80 each with an alignment/balancing...soooooo go wallow in your $120-200/tire change for each tire...And please don't tell me you are going to get some general brand tires for those lorinsers, I would want at least something like bridgestones/yokohamas/michellins/goodyears for something that expensive.
3) There is no benefit to going to 17s. I want to keep it a little closer to the size that car was meant for.
4) You live in 480 area code... uh sorry I like seeing my stuff mounted and taken care of in front of my eyes. I have seen rims bent by the installers before. I know someone out here that will mount and balance and I get to work with him.
5) I don't just go out and buy the most expensive thing, there has to be a reason for it and the name Lorinser doesn't justify breaking that rule for me (neither does Brabus or AMG).
6) Do your lorinser's come in silver, charcoal powder coat, white or gold? I am guessing not, so that leave it at that. These guys do custom rims, not the bling bling stuff.

I guess most of you wonder why I went with this package, mainly because if I am going to do something I am going to see it through all the way. I like finding out more about a car and its innards so that I know how to do it myself. Rather be a slave to the installer/seller this gives me the opportunity to learn.

I have posted several times on rims asking lots of questions, opinions, and specs. Thanks for the input from smartbillet and evil...otherwise I would be lost. I think when you just say shell out 2000+ for rims and then refer some dealer is a little dumb.

My 2 cents...Nuff Said....

Allen doesn't make the adaptors, he imports the rims. This is a 3-lug rim so no adapters needed. I do need a set of 10mm spacers for the back. I am too lazy to call europe to get the adaptors sent over. Allen was aware from his contact in the UK about the adaptors and how common it was to use them. I personally don't want to run the adaptors, I would rather have a three lug pattern that matches the original.

I know other guys have said you have to look at those european dealers but after shipping/euro conversion plus the rim I was going to buy, I made the decision not to buy an adaptor.

Thanks iconpyro.

The reason why I asked about the spacer/adpator is that there are a lot of nice & light weight 15" wheels for the 4x100 bolt pattern.

I'll go ahead and check with the wheel shops in San Francisco to see if they have any 3-bolt to 4-bolt spacer / adpators available.

I'll let you guys know what I find.

Don't think you'll find any 3 to 4 adapters.

I agree with smarticus...3 to 4 hole is very difficult (I think close to impossible). You will need to do a 3 to 5x112 bolt adaptor with rims that have an offset of 35-40mm.
