Now That The NJBag Lady is Gone...

Anyone know a good source for a spare tire bag? I'd like to start putting together my own spare tire kit to carry in the smart. Don't want a carrier a la Tirerack as I don't want the smell of rubber pervading the car. Want something that fully closes and has some durability (no large garbage bags if they can be avoided). TIA.

Me too, but I would only take mine on long trips away from home. How many miles does the Smart car go on a flat?

I would recommend zero (as in much much less than one). These are not run-flat tires; there's no self-supporting structure. I've seen wheels sanded flat along one side because some dufus figured he could drive home with the flat. The wheels shred the rubber, rubber comes off in pieces, rims meet road, general ugliness.

Ah, now I feel dumb. I must have misunderstood the Smart reps when they said the Smart has run-flat. They probably meant that repair kit. Okay, so now I'm off to figure out what sizes they have for run-flat tires.

Garage
I have the TireRack bag. But, I'm probably going to get rid of my spare and go with UltraSeal. I know it has its detractors, but the spare just takes up too much room. Unlike some folks, I find the space behind the driver's seat to be unsuitable.

I don't think run-flats exist in 15".

I just did a search on tirerack for run-flat tires ranging from 145/40-15 to 215/70-15 and there aren't any run flats for 15" within that range! However, I did found run-flats for my Brabus 17s, which I'll post on the Brabus wheels thread as I don't want to hijack this thread.

Just wanted to say tirerack doesn't have a 15" run-flat tire FWIW, so I take my statement back that I would only have a spare on long trips as I didn't know the Smart didn't have run-flats.

Having had run flats in my previous two cars I recognized their utility so I was jazzed about hooking up with some Smart run flats.

There's nothing out there. Woe is me.

So I know where to get to the pump and the goop!
