Okay, thanks for the info! I suspect run-flats would go a lot further in the Smart due to its lighter weight. I've had several flats with a 2-3 ton vehicle with run flats on it which at that weight they don't go as far, which is why Michelin invented that revolutionary run flat that you see on the Honda Odyssey.

lol, those aren't the Michelin's I was talking about.

I doubt that design works very well in the Snow, but I see no reason why they can't make the same thing with sidewalls for Snow.

I have runflats on my wrx and although they really work well, they are beating the **** out my car, they are bridgstones. I dont think I could stand a rougher ride than my passion allready has.

man, with the unemployment rate at record levels, you'd think another entrepreneur like the Bag Lady would pop up.

How much demand would there be for something like this? My sister owns a textile company and I've been thinking of a product she could market to diversify from the children's clothes. My family used to have several hundred employees before Wal-Mart pulled their 20th "downsizing" move in as many years - so diversification is key in the industry.

Surely the profit margin on a tire cover/carrier is higher than the 30-50 cents on a $12.00 shirt. It's a simple shape - the challenge would be to get material that's either screen printed or otherwise looks good, and then produce and sell enough to make the design process worthwhile. What would you guys be willing to pay for something like this, and what features would you want?
