OEM front to rear?

Is anyone using OEM front rims/tires on the rear?

Ideally I'd like to have four steel OEM front rims (4.5J x 15), and run Winter specific 155/60R15 on all four corners.

Alloy would be very nice, but I already purchased a set (2 front, 2 rear) of perfect condition steelies from another forum member, puppeto.

Perhaps I'll post in the Marketplace to see if anyone in the Chicago/Milwaukee corridor would be interested in trading their front steel rims, for my steel rear rims.

Hi,
I'm running the front tires and rims all around with the stock tires. So far so good as I had two old beetle "bugs" in the past with the same set up. Rear engine drive and thin tires in winter worked just fine.
