Last year I bought four Blizzak LM-18's studless 175/55 R15. I put them on all four corners. So I had to put rear rims on the front. I had no problems with mounting the tires and rims on the front nor did i have any problems with driving. Handling on dry and rainy roads a breeze.

I went through three severe snow storms in the Northeast (unplowed roads and ice too) with no problems - as long as I drove sanely. However, I don't. I passed a few SUV's who were struggling and going slow. So one thing I was disappointed in regarding these tires was in cornering on deep rut snowy roads in the woods. If you take these type of curves like you do on dry pavement you will tend to slide a little. I think snow tires should handle winter roads like summer tires handle summer roads. So if your roads are curvy, have deep snow, and aren't plowed and you like to drive like you are on dry pavement then maybe there is a better tire out there for you. I'm just say'n....

Bottom line... I like the Blizzak's for winter.

I got the Winter Contis as they were a package deal when I bought my Smart this April. I am down the 401 in Kingston so I hope they work OK this winter. I gave my old Jeep 4x4 with it's winter Blizzaks to my son, so winter driving might be quite a bit different for me this year!........at least I can call him to tow me out of a snowdrift if I get stuck!

I wonder what the difference is?

I read the post about the Blizzak LM-18's being closed out. too bad. So I read the Bridgestone website on the difference between the LM-18 and the WS60. It sounds like the WS60 may be better on ice than the LM-18. However, the downside sounds like the WS60 may have less tread life than the LM-18. Different tire compounds are used. I know that when I had the multicell compound tires before they wore like erasers. Guess you can't have everything.
