Questions on Brabus Wheels & Suspension

There are a gazillion threads on all kind of wheels, in general, and the Brabus wheels and suspension kit, in particular, but there seems to be a few points that are still open to question. I've spent a lot of time going through most of the threads and, frankly, I'm getting a bit bleary-eyed.

For those of you who have installed the Brabus 16 and 17 inch wheels:

1. Is the suspension kit a mandatory installation with the wheels?

2. Have you also installed the suspension kit or are you waiting for some reason?

3. What tire combination did you select -- brand, model, and size -- for your Brabus wheels?

4. What was the approximate price range paid for wheels, tires, sensors, and suspension kit (if you bought that too)?

5. Who was your source for all components?

6. Almost forgot! If you add the suspension kit, is there any fit problem in going back to original smart alloys and tires for winter driving?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Joe

1) No but it is recommended.

2) I am waiting for some reason (finding the time to do it).

3) Tires: Yokohama S-drive.

a. 195/40-16 front
b. 225/35-17 rear

4) A bit over $4K, w/o sensors.

5) A smart dealer in Europe.

6) No.

PS: Since my purchase, the European smart dealers have been forbidden by the factory to sale smart parts and bits to the USA and BRABUS USA is not listing any of the smart wheels they offer for sale anywhere else.

Joe,

Glad to have been of assistance. Price paid included $400+ for air freight and $550+ and change for import duties.

BRABUS "dynamic driving" package: shop.flyingtiger.ca sells the same kit for $5,800 Canadian.

Given smart Brabus current policy, there are not that many such sets available in the US.

I saw someone in UK selling a BRABUS susp takeoff for $1000 plus shipping, but not sure if Smart is avoiding selling them.
