Not that it's applicable to the smart, but we're on about the third generation of runflats now. They are good enough that they come as standard on the current generation Corvette Z06, where they did not on the previous generation. Different from the smart entirely, but if runflats are specified for the Z06 the technology speaks for itself. Just my .02.
