Say a guy was going buy some 17s....

and he is going to go with the 3 to 5 lug adapaters that zenspeed is selling for $300.

What do I need to know about the 17s that I buy to make sure they fit properly?

Why not contact Zenspeed (Frankenstein Cassanova on here) and ask what size alloys you would need to get to match his adapters.

You are wise to check on this first. You can fit a variety of wheels by using adapters, but many of the wheels will not have the right offset. They may fit, but will not look right.

We have been working on putting together several sets of wheels have been put on a Smart and are designed to have the right offset. Within a week we plan to introduce several sets that will be sold as an adapter, wheel and tire combo with all the hardware needed to install. The tires will be mounted and the wheels will be balanced. We will ship them as complete sets and all you will need to do is simply put them on.

Our goal is to have complete 17" sets that rangein price between $1400-$1700 for everything!

We will post pics and make an announcement as soon as they are ready. We have a ton of stuff in the works for the Smart, so stay tuned...

Most 17's in a Benz pattern are going to be in an acceptable offset range.. You want to see numbers like "ET38" to "ET45".. But really, we're talking about a few MM's here (they're like 1/24th of an inch for my Fellow 'Mericans) so really, if they would bolt up to a C class, they're probably going to go on your car just fine. The only really oddball ones we've seen so far were off a CLK, and the rears had very little offset; I guess Benz was going for a wider "hot rod" look or something?

My perfect wheel would be a 16x6.5 or 17x7 all around, with like 38-ish mm of offset. Pretty much a standard OEM or Aftermarket Benz rim.
