Only $49 each for the fronts and $64 each for the rears. That's roughly 30% to 40% off the original Tire Rack pricing. They're currently listed as "In stock" but I'm not sure how many they have in inventory.

I ran these last year on All Ball, and he was like a little white and black snowmobile. Definitely the best winter tire value you'll find at the moment.

Tire Rack now has the Blizzak LM-18 for $39 for the fronts, same $64 closeout price for the rear. IMO the LM-18 looks like a siped all-season tire without much design for snow/ice.

Though I'm glad to see the Blizzak WS60. The LM-18 is a performance winter tire meaning it's great for performance dry &/or warmer pavement. The more aggressive tread design and likely softer rubber compound of the Blizzak WS60 is probably far better for snow.

I think I'm going with studded snow tires for $58/ea. I have them on my other vehicles and I just like the noise they make. I'll post it on a different thread since it won't be applicable to most Smart owner wheel sizes.

It may look that way to you, but the LM-18 was designed exclusively as a winter tire, meaning that the tread design and tread compound were deliberately chosen for traction in winter conditions such as cold, snow, and ice. After running them last season, and now again this season, I can definitely attest to their capabilities. As long as they remain in stock at Tire Rack, I encourage fortwo owners to take advantage of the excellent close-out pricing. You simply won't find a better deal on a winter tire.

I agree, that it is a great price. I'm game for a Northeast snow meet-up to do a snow tire review, i.e. see how far before our Smarts stop on a snowy road going a certain speed.

It's unfortunate that there are so few snow tire reviews between all the different snow tire products.

The 185/60x15 General ArcticMax works great on all four wheels on the smart. I now have 2500 miles in snow on mine mounted on Rial rims. Great traction and ride, plus Tire Rack rates them highly.

Do you mean 185/65R15? TireRack doesn't have the 185/60R15 as an option for the General Altimax Arctic. Did you gets studs for them?

I'm trying to decide between 60 and 65 high. Either 185/60R15 or 185/65R15. The higher probably the better clearance though the more they look like truck tires. I wish they made narrower studded tires.

I'd love to see pics if they are the 185/65R tires.

I decided that price is too good to pass up and ordered the Blizzaks LM-18s for my Passion. I'm going to garage the Brabus again this winter. I'll do the studs next year then compare the two. What's most interesting is the stock front tires I believe are 155/60 and these 145/65.

145's
It's the "cutting" through the snow theory versus the "floating" over the snow...

Full winter package from Tire Rack

This is what we ordered;

2 15x6 Sport Edition SM3 Silver $75.00 each $150.00 Total
2 15x7 Sport Edition SM3 Silver $79.00 each $158.00 Total
2 145/65R-15 Bridgestone Blizzak LM-18 $39.00 each $78.00 Total
2 175/55R-15 Bridgestone Blizzak LM-18 $64.00 each $128.00 Total
4 Mount and Balance (No Charge)
4 433MHz Tire Pressure Sensor $39.00 each $156.00 Total
4 Sport Edition center cap (No Charge)
4 Sets of Red, Black, Blue, Yellow spoke covers (No Charge)
Shipping: $104.98
Grand Total: $774.98

We received the wheels and tires only a few days after ordering. It took about 1/2 hour to change them out. A quick trip around town to associate the tire pressure sensors, and done.
They are quite on dry roads, and handle the snow and ice a lot better than the stock tires. Our 17-year-old uses the Smart as her daily driver and is very happy with how well the tires handle, and she loves the wheels. She's asked that we change the summer tires to the Sport wheels and winter to stockers.
