Stock wheels in chrome

Are these new to anyone else?

I haven't seen them like this from the dealership... my guess is that owner did it afterwards?

I saw a smart at the San Francisco dealer that was an orphan and had its wheels chromed. They didn't tell me how much it added to the price but were quick to say it made the dealer $200-$300 in profit. BTW, the new wheels did pop and made the car even more unique.

several new car dealers do it especially benz. it's a huge profit item since they already have the wheel. from my experience, you can buy an entire set of aftermarket wheels (in CP) for the price they charge to chrome your stockers.

i would wager it's a bit more than that. i've had wheels chromed in SD many years ago and it cost $100 ea then. it's surely more than that now with all of the EPA regulations for chrome shops.

This process seems to be 'greener' and thus available:

I *think* I've seen websites quote around $200 a wheel, give or take, for chroming (not sure which kind or size, some places seems to send wheels out of state for old school dipping).

Buying wheels from a new car dealer has got to be one of the biggest rip-offs ever. But quite a few do because it can be factored into the financing.
