Tire caps?

The low tire pressure indicator went on. I went to see which one was low. One of the caps for the tire 'connector' (when filling the tire with air) was gone. Are these unique or do I can I use regular ones? I do not remember the name of the piece.

Valve stem caps or covers; any standard ones should work. Your smart center can get replacements ($99 deposit, 18 month wait, however.)

Thank you for the information. I will check the local auto parts store. Perhaps they might have some fancy ones.

I do not know if it fell off or if it was taken off. Would not having a cap cause the air pressure to go down? Would tire pressure decrease even though I had the little car since March of this year? I will look for a replacement. I found some interesting ones on Froogle.

I found one which indicates the tire is low on pressure. The inside indicator indicates a tire is low but not which one.

I found some locking stem caps. It would be nice if the Smart logo was available on one.

The only valve caps that should be used on tpms valve stems should be plastic only because metal caps interfer with the signal coming from the tps inside the tire and wil cause problems with tire pressure monitoring system.

That's odd, I'm pretty sure the ones Paul sent me (with the Smart logo, sold by Smart) are steel. I'm had them on for a couple thousand miles and never noted a pressure monitoring problem. But, then again, I do check the pressures pretty regularly.

Don't use these. If the cap is mishandled or if you crack the clear plastic tip by curbing or etc, they will leak. Remember you don't have a spare tire.
