I may be misremembering, but one poster had the problem you described with leaking and thought it might have been caused by damage done when he took his Smart through a car wash. I think your warning is one to heed.

I bought four valve caps at Advanced Auto. I also bought a 'smart' tire gauge. It has memory for remembering the front and back tire pressure settings. It was easy to use. I set the front to 29 and the back to 36 and it remembers the settings. I checked the tires. The air pressure was down slightly but enough for the indicator to go on. Can I use the air pump that comes with the Fortwo to inflate them?
