more news tire sensors DO NOT USE SEALANT

Can I insert tire sealant or other fluids in tires with sensors inside?

The use of any liquid or tire sealant injected into tires equipped with tire pressure sensors is not recommended and may cause the tire pressure sensors to malfunction. If evidence of the use of tire sealant is noted upon dismounting the tire, it is highly recommended that the sensors be replaced. It is also very important to remove all residual sealant from the inside of the tire and rim surfaces prior to re-installing the tire.

Yea, I don't know what pricing I saw at Tire Rack but here's their stuff:

WARNING! Tire Pressure Monitoring System

Your vehicle is equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system that requires a sensor to be installed in the tire and wheel assembly for proper operation.
The original sensors from your original wheels can be used or you may purchase sensors from Tire Rack.
Your system includes:

433MHZ TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR
$248.00 for a quantity of 4

REQUIRED VALVE SLEEVE
$5.00 for a quantity of 4

Total Price: $253.00

For the best price from an authorized dealer, I would call Paul Bridle at smart center of Round Rock (512) 244-1491. Great guy to work with and is not interested in getting anyone by the "short & curlys"!

While your driving, isn't that dangerous?

We have something like this on the Harley's. Work great and a lot more affordable.

Safety Pressure Indicator Valve Stem Caps

Would have to order 2 sets since front and rear tires are separate psi ratings unless can find a place that sells them separately.

Very funny, really. I've got 8 other motor vehicles, and none of them have this system. Never wrecked, never stranded, and never ever even thought of suing anyone over tire failures (0) due to low pressure. My one and only blowout was in 1972, in a '62 Corvair. Going around a curve. At 60. Rear tire. I survived, as did the 'Vair. This is simply something like cellphones, every one wants it, no one really needs it.

They have them for $120 something for a Pair. I will not use them on my new wheels . I dont like the idea...I will monitor my tires as usual.
