Tire Vibration....parts falling off

I had noticed a slight tire vibration lately. Yesterday I walked out and noticed something laying on the ground next to the car. It was the wheel weight that is used to balance the tires and wheels. Smart uses stick on weights on the backside of the wheels. That is what fell off on the ground. Houston Smart Center North took care of the problem while i waited (rebalanced the tires) and washed my car inside and out and was ready in a little over a hour today. Great service and a free wash to boot. Just something to keep a eye out for on your cars.

That is wonderful service. Hope the sticky weights stay on this time.

In my SCCA racing days "Tech & Scrutineering" required us to use adhesive wheel weights, usually applied to the inside of the wheel. BUT THEY HAD TO BE COVERED WITH DUCT TAPE as additional surity they would stay in place. That could be good practice with smarts.

Does this mean that the first maintenance procedure on my new car will be to apply duct tape to it??

PS: One should always apply duct tape over stick-on wheel weights - how could a tire installer not know this?

What happens in France stays in France.

It ought to be a US customer-demand item in the process of taking delivery (while a full-frame hydraulic lift is readily available).

I use aluminum tape to secure stick-on wheel weights on my cars and models. Duct tape will weather badly as I found out a few years ago, it will do the job for a little while though.

Not a classic British car. Some may recall the old bumper sticker "The parts falling off this car are made of the finest British craftsmanship."
