An alignment may be in factory spec and not suited to your use. A shop that understands what the car is doing going down the road should be able to help you.

My grandfather would tell me if the dog did not stop to take a poop he would have caught that rabbit... well close to that anyway

Hey MP3SMART--I am having a similiar problem with inside tire wear on the inside of the fronts. The service dept in Cary was ready to check them when I took it it in for an UNRELATED item-should have seen the red flag but did not-they told me that I needed an alignment check at $169. Did not have the time on that day for the alignment-thought i could get it done closer to home. I am also getting noise at about 30 mph while decelerating and not breaking-just free rolling. Thinking about a set of michelins-185/60-15 for all four wheels but not sure about the fit on the narrower wheels on the front. I would really like to get more wear out of the Contis before the michelins. Let me know what you have done to fix your problem.

Is it possible to get a "stiffer" or shorter stabilizer bar? I do alot of hard cornering causing inside tire wear. My understanding of the McPherson strut is that camber would be reduced if this bar were stiffer.

I've been running rear size tires on the front rims for almost 1.5 years and stiffer springs and no sway bar at all for a year now. (15,000 mi on the odo)
Using 0 toe, (whenever I bother to check it) the front tire wear is even.
With stock springs and a plus-sized driver, there may be some toe change.
Sounds like tires are cheaper than your alignment shop.
You can check toe with an accomplice and a tape measure.

from my limited knowledge of how a cars suspension works, removing the front sway bar will reduced the smarts understeer? and the stiffer springs make up for the increased body roll?

Tom - still new at the modding game

Gurps,
By the book you are right.
Less front roll stiffness should decrease understeer but it doesn't always work that way in practice because of geometry problems like roll centers, camber and toe changes and CG stuff.
I was after a smoother ride and less clunking. Removing the bar made a smoother, quieter ride.
But without the stiffer springs, the car rolls a LOT.
