Is it that big of a difference?

Instead of lowering the car, lower the seat with a seat from some old sportscar or a different seat frame. That should lower the center of gravity somewhat.Might even make the car feel "bigger".

that guy had too much time on his hands and too much $$$$ in his bank account!

i'm looking at larger fronts, the ride here is too jarring over certain areas, would like more meat up front cuz i like to corner fast, the tiny 155/60-15's seem to hold up ok to the abuse in the dry, i lighten up a bit when it's wet, my last car was a FWD metro with 195/50-15's all around, that was a go-cart/snowmobile.

when i first got my smart, i thought about dropping it, but after driving it, i wanted to lift it, need more front suspension movement or something to soften the jarring bumps.

Somewhat true, but the roads in Mexico is quite different from the most roads here in US or Europe.
I just changed the springs couple of weeks ago and extremely happy with it. Lowered smart feels much better when going into the corners and it does not jump like a rabbit from the traffic lights.

They are "Smart Madness" branded. I will post the some photos after the spring settle a little bit. They provide same drop as H&Rs.

1. Can I install new springs myself? Depends on your mechanical ability.

1.1 Is it difficult? Do you have decent place to work with good tools? If yes it should be easy, if no forget it.

1.2 Does it req any special tools? Small spring compressor. Something that will get to the hard to reach front strut top-hat fasteners. Good jack and jack stands.
