Oh evilution... the only problem I ran into here is translation. Their site doesnt translate over to everything correctly so I have busily cut and paste the German and put it into a language convertor to understand everything. I am going to try to call these guys...but I have a big feeling this might not be that easy to communicate with them.

There prices are decent 150-160 Euro per set, and I will need 2 so roughly about 300Euro along with shipping and conversion to get this to about $450. Don't know if thats about the same as any other. I think the Wellsmart ones were 400 (200 pounds). so this might be equal with shipping.

Well wish me luck... I can only speak a littler German... lol

Google "wheel adaptors". There are American companies that make them. They don't make them specifically for Smarts, but if its a half-way decent shop, they should be able to make them to your specs.

I don't know if anyone thought of this yet, but everyone seems to concentrate on 5 lug wheels with adapters. Why not go to a 6 lug wheel. There are wheels available with a 6 x 114.3 bolt pattern. A machine shop could adjust each hole by 1mm +/- to get to a 3 x 112.5 bolt pattern. Offsets would have to be similar, but the bolt pattern issue would be easily fixed. The extra 3 holes on the wheel could be left as is or a dummy lug nut could be attached someway. Lots of 17" rims available.

The problem with that is:
Most 6 lug are truck wheels and not a design that would look good on a Smart.
Finding a wheel with the correct offset might be impossible
Good idea, none the less

When I emailed them they replied in perfectly understandable English.

The site also translates what you need to English anyway.
Click catalogues
click adaption wheel spacers
click 3 holed adapters

You will then be shown all of the 3 to 5 adapters.
They are listed in center bore size, I believe you will want the second table which shows the Mercedes 66.5mm bore.

The wording under reference says:

For installation of the rim, a long wheel bolt is necessary.
(original wheel bolt length length plus adapter thickness).
Four of the original bolts can be used.

For original bolts means you can use the 3 standard wheel bolts, buy a set of security bolts to make it 4 and the final long bolt which passes all the way into the hub.

Here is a wheel that would look good on a smart with 6 x 114.3 bolt pattern. It may be a truck wheel but it looks good.

Not bad. If you do this, while at the machine shop getting the bolt pattern "adjusted", you'll also need to get them to make you some hubcentric rings for all 4 wheels.
