they have wheels named Rial Lemans, 15 inch 5 inch wide with 24 mm offset and 6 inch wide with 25 mm offset, i think they were $135 each

How the heck did you find that? Search by bolt pattern? BTW, what is the wheel pattern on a Smart? 3x100?

I saw those and they were a good deal, plus the increase in wheel width allows better tire sizes and choices. But it seems a shame to swap one 15" alloy for another 15" alloy without getting a step up to 16"

Somehow I got to the point where Tire Rack does have a 08 Fortwo in its system, but you need to call in to order snow tires. I don't think they have steel wheels in stock, but they do have the Rials... too nice for snow though...

I upped the fronts to 175/55/15 to get Pirelli 190 snowies. I haven't played the alternate tire size game yet, but hopefully Nokian makes one for it!

I now had chance to drive the car a few more miles. It seems that almost any improvement in width of the tires will help steady the car.

i was talking to them on the phone and they told me about them, you need to go to the wheel section and look under the wheel name, i couldn't get a price or the size thing to come up, so those numbers are what the sales guy told me,,, i think our center hole is 112.5 mm
they have not had a car to take measurments off of yet so i am takeing mine up next week for them to look at, depending on the weather

the problem i see with going to 16's is getting tires that are close to 22.6 dia, we can't even get a 175/55/15 and a 195/50/15 from the same manufacture

i was even thinking about goine 195's all the way around, i too think the wider tire might make it better in the wind and rough roads,, has anyone noticed any difference in the handling with two people in the car, seems a little more stable to me

You guys are missing some aspects...

Center bore and offset also play a big part in fitment. I haven't had a wheel off yet to get all the measurements but its something to look into.
