I wouldn't really go any wider than the stock tire sizes if you're sticking with the stock rims. If all you're after is a wider "stance", you can achieve this with some extended wheel studs and spacers. However, putting a wider tire on the relatively narrow wheel will result in less responsive handling and a "squishier" feel.

I have 185/60-15's all around, but I also installed new rear rims on the front and kept one front for a spare.
Ignoring the 15", these are about as large a tire diameter as will fit the front with this offset wheel. Perhaps a little taller front could be used if the wheel sat in a bit more. Rears could be larger diameter, lots of room - but it is like installing a higher gear ratio and you would feel it during acceleration as it will definitely slow it down.
My end result was that it made the speedometer reading accurate with GPS and radar, but now the odometer reads 3% low. Multiplying the odometer reading by 1.03 and dividing by gallons still gives me an accurate MPG and I am about 43-44 but that is climbing with the use of the MDC cruise control.
I selected Michelin tires for $590 for the set, quiet, good ride and so far very little wear showing.
