I'm actually from Texas, I just work here right now.
But I reserved in August 07 and configured in October 08, my 90 days email is long gone. First the dealership said January 16, then February 15, and I talked to Dave Schembri just two minutes ago and apparently the car is built and sitting around waiting for a boat. So I won't get it until April. It's bull****. When I was given an exact date, guess what I did? Got a loan, sold my car, etc.
And now my loan approval has expired, my buyer had to find another car, not that they care that I'm sitting here waiting and waiting with absolutely no information.

Hopefully he got on the dealer about that. A few others have had that experence. For all the crap, you should see if Dave can make the dealer buy your car for what you were selling it for.
Now that I've calmed a little, I think it will be okay. He did say specifically, I don't know why you were told those dates, that doesn't seem right. So I don't blame him and I'm very appreciative that he looked into it for me.
He said he will have it to me by the first week of April, so I guess after two more paychecks I'll be able to pay off half of it up front and won't have nearly as much of a loan to worry about anyway. And several of my friends have had cars break down recently, so if they can wait... so can I.
I'll try to focus on the good parts and not the sucky parts now.

That's the spirit!
It's kind of surprising with all the talk of orphans at dealers that there isn't a smart the way you want it somewhere nearby. And, hopefully, smartUSA and your dealer will learn a thing or two about properly 'managing expectations'. Don't tell an excited, soon-to-be smart owner that Christmas is almost here and then move the date! I feel your pain, but it sounds like it will all work out in the end. Good luck!
