Adopted an Orphan

Picked up a lonely Passion coupe on 3/20. Blue/Silver Tri. Comfort package, primium stero. Only thing it was missing I wanted was foglamps and the tac/clock & yellow. Had to do the addon's (lowjack, clearbra, "scotch guard").

Delivery was a bit scary, as one of the hood latch's was broke. Part was on order, but the salesman didn't know. We took the whole front end off to replace that little latch (scavenged from another car the replacement). It was a big learning experience seeing that be done. Took about 10-15 minutes for removal (tech's first time he did the front). The big thing I learned is they are prewired for fogs. So in theory, you just need to find where the switch is and put that in, mount some fogs. Only question is does the computer need to activate the fog circuit?

Either way, 2 days now, and loving it. I can't wait for the first fillup. I haven't seen under $75 yet (2001 Ford Super Duty Diesel).

Yes, now I own both ends of the automotive industry. Smallest (Smart) and biggest (Superduty).

WOW!

both ends of the spectrum, huh.......when driving your Smart, do you feel like you're sitting in the recliner from your livingroom, driving down the street?

gotta be a weird feeling going from one to another. ;)

My wife had a Honda Accord a few years ago. When I switched from the big truck to that, it was like driving an indy car. Now going from the SD to the Smart is like driving a slot car. It will take a few days to get used to the switch. But with the price of diesel, the truck is back to my weekend warrior now (home Depot runs, camping, etc).

I'm selling my daily driver (Ford Ranger). Go figure, the Super Duty and Ranger got about the same mileage (miserable 15-16 mpg). I'm loving the chance to be in the mid 40's.

I am in the same boat, Ford Excursion Diesel and going to buy a Smart. I think I may actually be able to fit the smart on the roof rack.

Fogs can be installed but cannot be activated. Smart knows about the programming problem and is supposed to be working on it. My husband got his smart on Jan 24. They installed the fog lamps at the dealership that day. We have a fog lamp switch but to this day are still unable to make them work because of a disconnect between the manufacturer and the dealer.
