DDE Window... Actual delivery

Sorry if this has been brought up before. I am trying to guage exactly how the DDE is actually corresponding with deliveries. There have been some people saying the later part of the dde window is when to expect (primarily my dealer) And then there was a thread here suggesting its the beginning of the window. My DDE is 5/17 to 8/14. This window is really big, and I wish I could make it smaller, at least speculation wise. If could mean that my car is on the line right now, or its still a dream.

So the question is, how is the DDE corresponding to actual deliveries. Beginning, middle, end? I can see from the various threads that the DDE's are all over the place. Mine has moved various time. Only ahead, from October start, to May start.

seems like in the only two examples I could find that delivery will be in the last half of that 90 day window. For two cars recently offloaded in Baltimore around the first week of April, one DDE was jan-apr, and the other feb-may. My guess is that the build date corresponds to the start of the window.

I think the DDE is sort of like reading your horoscope on a daily basis - wouldn't put a lot of stock in it.

My DDE has shifted all over the place, beginning with a range from March to June, then moving entirely into the past with a range ending in March, and now reads 3/20/08 - 6/18/08. I was just notified that my car is in today (so I guess in all fairness, that's within the range - today, at least...)

On first day available, DDE estimated my #1205 (ordered 4/20) would arrive between March 9 and June 7, 2007. I picked my smart up on April 10. So just about 1 month into the range. I never checked the DDE again.

Not sure this obsessing will help, as YMMV greatly, it seems.

I'm picking mine up at Fairfield tomorrow. I think the original window started in Mid-March so I am about 30-40 days in.

DDE is a shot in the dark....mine moves all the time...up AND back....I just hope for the best...

That makes sense, June is what I formulated, and I have enought assumptions to keep me happy... for now.

My DDE said that my car was delivered. That was true.

I just reserved a second one., I cannot wait until it is in the DDE. I am hoping for 2 years or more.
