Just for an update, when I did my configuartion last week I did have the chance to change my location. I was also told by smart that I could call them one week after placeing my order and request the car be sent to a location of my choice. So it is possible, for me as previously stated, I found another way to offset my expesive $400 doc fee.

That is cool. We should send this message to every rip-off dealer and see if they can lower there fees NOW! ;)

A "training fee"?

Is the $80.00 "training fee" I recently found out about included in the doc fee? Or is it an additional fee? And just what is it anyway?

You've got to be kidding, a training fee? Good lord it sounds like a fee to for them to learn their job How that even gets to be $80 per car is crazy...

Boy I should charge a fee for all the info I've provided to people working at car dealers that they were clueless about.

BMX43,
You may be correct about New Mexico, as I have posed a question to the owner of the dealer, and have not heard anything. I also have heard from one other person that they asked the dealer, and they refused to let him know the fee. I also sent an email over a month ago, and no answer.

The $80.00 training fee is found only on the dealer's cost column of the factory invoice and is not reflected in the buyer's column. Not a problemo.

The following response may ilicit some negative responses but I'm posting this to save us all another scOrlando type situation.

Gnikkib,
With all due respect, it sounds like you work for scBuckhead and no one on this website is going to side with you on sticking it to our fellow smart owners or soon to be smart owners, no matter what excuse you come up with. If you want to avoid the same type of pressurized campaign against your dealership like the one scOrlando received, just reduce your fees and refund the overage. This will build good will with the smart community and repair your smart customer relationships. Remember, this thread is being watched by PAG, smartUSA and MB so be careful with your response. Thanks, Regina
