Dealer fees..

Although I have yet to get my car, (1199) I did find this during a google search on doc fees in MN

1) 6.5% Minnesota sales tax (unless the vehicle is going to be registered in another state)
2) License plate fees (if necessary) – depends upon the base price for a new vehicle / a 1 year old vehicle = $189 / a 2 to 5 year old vehicle = $99
3) MN State Titling fees and document/administrative fees = $70


So it looks like MN is not one of the ripoff states when it comes to these fees. When I finally get my car, ill report back

I'm happy you found the $300 "prep" fee reasonable. Here in California we only pay an additional $55 for dealer doc prep fees. That plus sales taxes and DMV fees. The $645 destination charge is tacked on by smart USA for everyone. I think the $55 is much more "reasonable" than $300 or more some are paying for the same thing.

Your threashold for being ripped off is very high....

You dealer has done zero more then any other of the 70 Smart Center dealers to earn that extra $250....

Considering Spdickey and My dealer's real document processing fees are in the 50~55 dollar range... you should be ticked off to pay $250 too much....

The reason we are giving you grief is ...simply this... as long as some customers will blissfully pay rip off fees and charges, the dealers will continue to screw every customer... We think, as a customer, you should be more in line with the rest of us loudly objecting to the clear fraud, and gouging....

From another thread, we can add this to smart center Orlando's fees:

$30.50 for something called "miscellaneous fees" ...

Bobby Rahal's Automotive Group is the Pittsburgh smartcenter and the doc fees are $55.00. Lic, title and registration fees are $105.50.

No other misc fees.

I visited the Smart Car center in Tukwila, Washington a couple of days ago and asked about their documentation fee. They said it was $50 because it is regulated by the state.

Wisco says that Pittsburgh doc fee is 84.00 and wahi says that it is 55.00.

Did they lower it ???
