They never responded, received the following e-mail today, I guess they also do not honor the 30 day thing:

[quote]Hello!

We are happy to tell you that your car has arrived stateside and is being processed at our port of entry in California. We expect your vehicle to be released to transportation carriers in the next 24-48 hours (maybe even sooner!). In preparation for your delivery we will need the following items with you – you can bring them with you at your delivery appointment or you are welcome to email or fax them to us ahead of time. Items we will need; a copy of your driver’s license and a current insurance card with your name on it. If you are planning to finance, we will need a credit application (attached) filled out and faxed to us. If you have a trade in, please give us a call with the details so we can begin the appraisal process. Once your vehicle has arrived here at the dealership we will contact you to schedule your delivery appointment, please remember that once the vehicle arrives here at the dealership you have 7 days to complete your purchase and take delivery.

Also, we have value added options available, please take a look at them and let us know if you would be interested – we can have any of these items added to your vehicle prior to your delivery so it’s all ready to go when you come in:

LoJack- $595

Window tint:

~Ceramic- $695

~standard- $325

Ibex surface protection system- $495

Clear Bra- $625

Velour Floor Mats $65

All Weather Mats $49

If for any reason you have decided you will not be purchasing the smart car you have reserved please kindly respond to this email requesting a refund. smartUSA will issue your refund promptly.

If you need any additional assistance, please do not hesitate to call on us.

See you soon!

CruisingAZ, thank you for the update. I gather that you didn't pursue the out-of-state delivery. Lately, there have been a couple threads addressing dealer change, but I haven't read enough detail to push me forward. I believe the SC Las Vegas will open next week, and then I'll be able to ask questions about their additional fees. The Las Vegas Towbin dealerships seem to have a sketchy reputation. Last year I bought a new truck and was happy to travel to LA to pick it up.

From reading these forums, I'm guessing the SC Universal City (N Hollywood) seems to have the best reputation in southern California.

Many dealers won't sell you a car if you live outside their "assigned" area. The company penalizes them if they do. It is set up by zip code but you could end up being serviced by two different dealers, e.g., I'm covered by either the Albuquerque or Phoenix dealer. - sheureka
