Buried is all the comments under the main post is a statement that the car doesn't have a dipstick (!) and all service, including oil changes, must be done at the dealer. The second one is wrong, but what about the dipstick - does the smart have one?

The diesel smarts that Canada has don't have a dipstick. All our North American 451 model smarts, US and Canadian, have dipsticks.

Hilarious how "no dipstick" could be a deal-breaker. Most reservers could probably care less. However, I do hate it when these auto folks keep putting out mis-information.
Does anyone know the details about the oil drain plug? Some version of the 42 doesn't have an oil drain plug, you have to pump the old oil out through the dipstick hole. I'm not sure if it's the 450 or the 451 that has this boneheaded design. Has anyone that has taken delivery crawled under their car yet?
