Getting an Orphan ... as is

This posting is for the "adopters" out there.

Did you adopt the same smart that was orphaned, or did you have to adopt a smart with non-factory options/add-ons? I am trying to determine if adding-on extras is nationwide...not that I can do anything about. Just curious.

I adopted an orphan 5/30. It is a red/black pure with a/c and radio. My reserved pure is white/black with a/c. Of course, I had to pay for the red and the radio. The dealer had no other add-ons, nor did he try to sell me anything else. He SUGGESTED extended warrenties, but in no way did he push them. There was a dealer prep of $399, but I found this to be normal as I called other dealerships to check on this. My dealership is smart center Virginia Beach.

Even though updates are given through various sources the thread is not updated, specifically smartEdision even the rep here acknowledges gratuitous addons,which he states are needed for the survival of the dealership due to the economies of smart reservation sales.

I wouldn't say useless, although the OP has not kept it up-to-date. The info on the other dealers is accurate as far as I know and useful to those buying from those dealers. But, whatever floats your boat.

I thought I read somewhere on the forum that Buckhead MB doesn't load up their Orphans beyond what optional equipment they were configured with. Good Luck!!
