I got my red/silver cabrio yesterday (2/8/08). I'm loving it. It's been 9 years since I saw my first in Andorra and knew that I wanted one. Maybe 2 years ago I paid $5000 to the California retrofitter for a grey-market car. They never delivered on their promise and (luckily) I got my deposit back. I then sent $1000 to a dealer in West Palm Beach, FL but they also didn't deliver as promised. I again got my deposit back. I "got on board" 3/19/07 (1173) and have been waiting 11 months for this happy day. I suspect I may be the first owner in NYC to get one. I know I'm the first delivered by Mercedes of Manhattan (the only Smart dealer in NYC).
I had planned to go woosie and leave the gear shift in automatic mode, but I'm actually enjoying the paddle shifters.
Life is good. When is the first Northeast Smart get-together????

Picked up an orphan today. Silver/Silver. Everything but the tach and clock. Drove 90 miles to get it home. Drove it in automated mode the whole way to understand the nuances. The computer certainly wants to get into higher gears as soon as it can. I wanted to switch to manual mode and override the computer but stuck it out. No engine noise but there is a resonance through the tridion cell when the rpms are low. Kind of a low rumble which goes away if the rpms are in what I would call a more normal operating range (maybe 2000+).

Got my smart Sat. in La Vista, Neb. I'm a 1174. Got an all black with leather and gages. Drove 200 miles in 40+ mph wind, blowing snow, icy roads, cars in the ditch, etc. Think ping pong ball with sail in the ocean. Probably worst weather for a smart. Exciting but acceptable overall. Used half a tank of gas. I think that all the stares made up for the drive.

We got ours on 2-11-08. Don't know the #'s or other dates.

I recieved my email saying delivery in the next thirty days onFeb 1st. My car was unloaded from cargo ship Tameralane on Jan 28th. So I've been waiting for call from dealer saying its here. Got a call from my dealer they said my car would be delivered in 48 to 60 days.They are holding all shippments in the port until all units are inspected for "Safety Issues" aka shifter moduals.
