Vague much? And no it's not worth it..... if it were true. Good back-pedaling though.

if by maintenance you mean replacing broken wheels than absolutely. that's not maintenance.

maintenance is oil changes and tune-ups. and no car costs $1k/year for oil changes, not even a 911 or boxter.

You know, you should thank me for taking my time to tell you about this. because i didn't have to tell you that.

And by the way, i didn't cut price in half, i said 1000-2000 and 500 if you don't use it much. in otherwords 500-2000

The information can be verified. Just use google, and go to any Smart canadian website and ask them.

You think i don't know that a car cost less than 300 a year to maintain ?
Yo dude, i have a 40k car right now and it cost me like $300 a year to maintain. which is normal. But according to canadian owners the maintenance on the Smart isn't like the other car.

A wheel that breaks isnt part of the maintenance (only if its covered by warranty or if you didn't do anything special to break your wheel)

There are few things that break on the smart within a year apparently. Canadian owners will be able to tell you more about it.

Snow tire change is part of the maintance fyi. But it doesn't concern you if you live in florida or LA. So that lower the bill by maybe 80 bucks. (presuming you already have snow tires)

You have a different opinion about maintenance bill.

Changing breaks, changing light, switching tires from summer to winter, that buddy is maintenance aswell. unless you want to run after problems.

Anything you spend on the car that isn't considered extra mod or upgrade, is maintenance.

Maintenance isn't just about changing oil & filters lol
if you do that on your smart, you won't keep it for long..

mod?
I'd call a set of snow tires a temporary safety mod...
Changing a burned out light is a repair.

When you install a set of winter tires, you are extending the life of the summer tires. The combined life is exactly the same as the life of two sets of sequentially installed tires

The steelies are a "convenience' investment.

Safety measure ??? lol

Where you from ???? in some area, it is a must to have snow tires. You can't go anywhere without snow tires... you can't even leave the parking lot without snow tires...
i would presume most of you are from the southern region lol..

Who is this guy??

I just got off the phone with SMARTUSA and "Alex" told me that they are not allowed to charge any more than MSRP, Destination charge, Tax and License. I asked her... "what do I do if that happens?" SHe said to call smartusa and talk to a customer service rep.

Second item...The smart does not come with all season tires?? I have never had to put snow tires on a car and I live in the middle of Illinois. Does the smart have to have them because it is so light?

THird, why would a smart be more expensive to fix if it got a tire blown on a pothole than a Toyota?? That makes no sense to me. As I recall...Canadian dollars are worth less than American dollars. Is this where the confusion is?

Well according to XE.com

1.00 USD = 1.01892 CAD

Yea, the Smart comes with 4 season tires.

Smart charge about 85$/hour but its 100$/h if its a mercedes thou.

Best is to ask the canadians for a list of things they had to perform to keep their Smart up and Running.

Using your definition of maintenance, "Anything you spend on the car that isn't considered extra mod or upgrade, is maintenance.",

The amount of saving in fuel costs offsets much of the "Maintenance" costs".
