if by maintenance you mean replacing broken wheels than absolutely. that's not maintenance.
maintenance is oil changes and tune-ups. and no car costs $1k/year for oil changes, not even a 911 or boxter.

You know, you should thank me for taking my time to tell you about this. because i didn't have to tell you that.
And by the way, i didn't cut price in half, i said 1000-2000 and 500 if you don't use it much. in otherwords 500-2000
The information can be verified. Just use google, and go to any Smart canadian website and ask them.
You think i don't know that a car cost less than 300 a year to maintain ?
Yo dude, i have a 40k car right now and it cost me like $300 a year to maintain. which is normal. But according to canadian owners the maintenance on the Smart isn't like the other car.
A wheel that breaks isnt part of the maintenance (only if its covered by warranty or if you didn't do anything special to break your wheel)
There are few things that break on the smart within a year apparently. Canadian owners will be able to tell you more about it.
Snow tire change is part of the maintance fyi. But it doesn't concern you if you live in florida or LA. So that lower the bill by maybe 80 bucks. (presuming you already have snow tires)
