Maybe this needs to be a sticky so people see this dealer fee business! We can't let them get away with this. We need it stopped now.

Gives new meaning to the term "smart buying experience"!

This is not the customer treatment smart usa has in mind; who is the Miami dealer?

When I recently bought a new Harley Davidson, I learned that some motorcycle dealers were burying in a $500 'dealer fee' but other dealers were not and their basic prices were every bit as compatible if not more so. I obviously walked away from the dealer that was ripping off all customers by tacking on that 'extra fee'. It's bad enough that you have to purchase their over priced options and add-ons after the sale, so they are going to make their profit from one profit 'center' or another. I hope the dealer fee is not being charged by all dealers because that may halt a lot of sales.

it's actually pretty common to pay "dealer prep" on a motorcycle. but it's disclosed in the pricing from the manufacturer that price does not include dealer prep or setup. plus remember that motorcycles come in crates and actually do require some assembly. i think the funniest one i saw was when i was looking to buy a little crf50 a couple of years ago. the bike retail price was $1099 and one dealer was trying to ad $599 "prep" fee...hahahaha yea right. safe to say i've never been back in that dealer.

An extra $500 added on for absolutely no service (beyond a basic car wash) is enough to make me seriously consider dropping my reservation (I would also be buying from the Miami dealer).

I'd suggest calling smart usa and telling them you want your car delivered by another dealer and the reason why.
