Picked up my Cabrio

Black w/ Silver safety cell.

As most of you know the car seems bigger on the inside than on the outside. Comfortable ride all things considered.

Two things I noticed. First, do not try to run a yellow traffic light. Car just does not have the kick-down like other cars I am used too. Think of a yellow light as a red light, stop, and you will be fine.

The second item is that I find the automatic transmission seems to pause between 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. Best way to describe it is if you were using a manual / clutch and shifted slow. I figured it is just the computer mapping of the transmission and it will smooth out as the car gets a couple hundred miles on it. My car was delivered with 7 miles on it and I may have doubled that as of this writing.

Happy Motoring

Hi Webbixby. Are you happy with the car or do you wish you would have waited for something else. Will the shifting issue be a major issue. I have not ordered as of yet. I am thinking of ordering a passion in the next month. I Would like more of your thoughts on your car, Thanks

Take it a bit easy for the first 1K miles it will keep getting better as you get to know each other. If you ever park it there are some suggeestions for break in in the manual. Enjoy karl

Oh I do like the car very much. Always wanted a "micro-car". This is not my primary car by the way. I have a couple others with a little more horsepower. But as a city commuter the Fortwo is perfect.

The transmission seems to get better as you put more miles on the car. Also there is some technique involved in helping it shift smoothly that comes after a few miles too.

The transmission is not an automatic. It is an automated-manual. Your description is accurate because that is pretty much what it is doing. When I test drove one, it helps to lift a little on the gas pedal when you feel it start to shift gears and then press the gas again after about a second or so.
