I bought my Smart about 2 weeks ago at the Smart Center in Bedford Ohio.
(Passion/Blue/Black/Black)
Here are my impressions so far on the car and the Dealer.
I really like driving the car. It is the most unique and fun car I have ever owned. I have had no reason to take it back to the dealer for any repairs yet.
The first tank of gas was 40MPG. Not to bad and I am hoping after the break in period to do even better.
The only thing I really dislike about the car is the Radio 9.
The sound quality is terrible! At first it sounded really tinny to me and then if you boost the bass it sounds boomy at certain frequencies and thin at others. I also hate the fact that the radio comes on automatically every time I turn on the car. I have tried the turn off the car then turn the radio on and off routine but this only works if you never use the radio again. Smart really missed the boat on this radio.
My impressions of the dealership are mixed. The sales person, Mollie was very nice and helpful but her knowledge of the car was somewhat limited.
Since this car was an orphan they added several options that I could have done without. The dealer add ons were Lojack, CD holder, 2 sets of floor mats and the cargo net package. The Doc fee of $250.00 is the max. the state of Ohio allows and seams way to high. My purchase was a cash deal and even though I had an appointment to pick up the car I was still there for almost 3 hours , mostly waiting around for the finance guy to do my paperwork.
Overall I am happy with my purchase and I just configured my original reservation. When the new car comes in I will have to decide if I want to sell the car I have now or just keep it and trun down the new one.
By the way don't buy one of these cars if you don't like being stared at and asked a lot of questions all the time. It does get anoying after a while especially if you are in a hurry.
