How far we've come in a year. This time last year people were fighting for these cars; no smart lease available. When orphans hit a dealer, they were loaded with extras, selling price raised accordingly; no smart lease available. Then the Great Recession hit and orphans started to show up at MSRP; no smart lease available. Now orphans are everywhere, not selling even at MSRP; finally, it's possible to lease a smart. And they said it would never happen.

I just don't see how anyone could stay under the 10k mark for leasing. I wonder if they do the 50 cents a mile over thing like VW does. OMG some ppl would be in debt when they turn the car in LOL.

Where have you found a brand new smart selling at a smart center for less than MSRP?

A lease on a smart was inevitable. The reason why a lease was not available for 2008 is because there was no residual value for a smart car. How could there be for a car that was just launched in 2008?

The program also allows a 12,000-mile per year term as well. It is $.15 cents per mile thereafter the contract allowance. VW did $.50? That is ludacris...
