I was told by Mr Wong from Edisionsmart that transfer of reservation is a violation of the contract. So this would be a bit difficult if the dealer refused to play along.I guess you would have pay first let the reservation holder buy the car and he would then transfer the car,thus technically you would be buying a used car.At least that is my understanding from what I was told.
Smart won't let you transfer the reservation. Your car is reserved for you; your only choices are to keep it yours or abandon it. Abandoning, you have no control over who gets it (maybe an eye flutter or donated mocha will get a salesperson on your side).
Smart anticipated this situation and forbade the selling of reservations for profit. That dlutes the market with essentially unwanted cars, while reducing their value, raising their sale price and screwing up delivery for those who are waiting over a year. Please don't perpetuate the abuse of the system by trying to sell a reservation or make a quick turnaround profit. You'll get your $99 back from smart once you cancel in writing.

line cutting, is a profit. just as those of us wait our (earned?) year, so too, those that sit on dealer orphan lists do so too. the profit is time, yes?
(plus, i wonder on a percentage bias, the expected dealer profit on orphans, that the dealers hope/counted on, in obtaining the dealership)
They're not in the business of tracking people down to enforce the rule, so it's easier to just forbid transfer of reservations completely.
Keeps it simple so they can focus on actually getting cars out to us instead of policing the 1% of the population that will prey on the other 99%.
Nothing's foolproof and someone determined to profit will go to great lengths to do so. They can still buy the car from the dealer, wait for their title in the mail, and resell it used. That buyer could probably get an orphan faster, though.
Not saying nick is one of that 1% predatory, just speaking in general.
