New to the list

Hi: I just wanted to introduce myself. My husband Bob & I just ordered a Smart Car Passion this weekend. I was wondering if someone could tell me how to find the Orphan list, also How does anyone like the service at the Edison, New Jersey location. Thanks to all of you, I can't wait 10-12 month seems like an eternity. Have a great day. Eileen

Welcome!!

Call the dealership you are most likely to be assigned as your delivery dealer. (Edison?) Talk to a sales rep or, if you have a contact (even better). Request you be placed on the Orphan list. Ask how they administer the list. Reservationist only, match buyer with model, color and option choices or just call through the list until they find an interested party. Ask about dealer add-ons (clearbra, lojack, paint and fabric protection, tires and wheels, custon body kits, that may be added by the dealer on an Orphan, thus increasing the purchase price. Call Danny Wong at the Edison, NJ smart center. I just bought an orphan from him a couple of weeks ago and have NOTHING but positive things to say about the experience! Go for it!

The best way to get an orphan at smartEdision is to go to the showroom. They have no orphan list(I was told this) and give preference to those who walk in the showroom. Also be prepared to pay for extended warranty on car and tires and a gps unit. It will probably total about $2500 over list ( I was told this)just to let you know so you are prepared to buy.
If you want one now.Also talk to a few salespeople because they seem to divy up the orphans to each and not all are fair game for each salesman( I observed this). Hope this helps

I want to thank all of you for all your comments & advise. It's amazing how much you learn. I can't thank you enough & I hope I can repay you all in the future. My husband & I also own a 1939 Chevy Street Rod. We go to car shows & cruise nights with it all the time. Every year we go up to Vermont & Canada in Sept. with it to the Northeast National Street Rod Nationals. We were hoping that SCOA also had a list of possible cruise nights for Smart cars. In fact we went to a cruise night in Boonton a few weeks ago & a gentleman had his Smart car there. He was kind enough to let us sit in it. I am a large person & had plenty of room in it & my husband who has had two total knee replacements had not trouble getting in or out of it. He sold us on the car & that's why we went the past Sat. & ordered a black passion with the silver accent, & the comfort package.
We hope there are local smart get togethers it would be fun to get a cruise night maybe to a diner together after we get our car or maybe we can come to one as a guest now. Thanks again, Happy 4th of July to all. Sorry I got so long winded, I'm just so excited. Eileen

Thanks. I just don't know how long I can be patient. It seems once you order it you "WANT IT NOW". Oh well, it will give me more time to save up more money.
