Does anyone know where I can get a set of Fog lights and related parts.
My 451 orphan didn't come over with them, the dealer doesn't sell them but would help with the installation. Seems a little strange, and can't seem to find any on line,
Tgobie50,
You don't have to hardwire them in yourself as all the wiring is in the car already. You need to purchase the lights (take a look at the Brabus ones, they have dual lamps on each side) and the switch. Wrumbarger is partially correct in saying the lights still won't operate and that's because you also require a TAN code to activate them. The TAN code is generated based on your cars VIN and the dealership should be able to obtain this for you. Keep in mind that TAN codes are usually quite expensive (the one for cruise control is about $180.00). There is a HWY traffic act in Canada and I think a similar one in the US that states you can only have four(4) forward facing driving lamps on at one time. The Smart has the low beams on when the high beams are on so if you switch the fogs on you will have a total of six(6) driving beams which is unlawful. In Canada if the car was ordered with fogs then it is OK but if you try and add them later the dealership will not install the TAN code. You'll have to check with the dealerships policies in the US and see if they will or can even obtain the needed TAN code. If the dealership can't or won't obtain the TAN code for you they can be purchased elsewhere (usually the same place you purchase the fogs from) and it's just a matter of finding an independent with a SDS (Star Diagnostics System) to install the code to activate the fogies. Welcome to the world of SMART!
The dual Brabus lamps aren't available. They aren't both fog lights, 1 pair are DRLs, the other pair are fogs.
Rod - the problem isn't with your laws, it is with smart. They physically couldn't add a fog light TAN code to any 451 smarts, not even Euro ones. They have been working on it for months now but I have just heard a rumour that the TAN code is just being released.

I would be surprised if this turned out to be true as this number has an American/Canadian designation and you don't get the Brabus fortwo.
Also When you buy the standard foglights you also have to get the panels with the holes that attach to the bumper.
Considering there are 2 lights per side and the panel I would have expects 3 seperate codes.

i bought some fogs state side for my 450 but the ended up with a 451 set , they came with a wiring loom that you connect the terminals to the battery and then just feed the wires through to the fog light area and then connect to the fogs and they use their own switch , no idea about the fitting though into the fog lamp area on the front of the car though ??????
I installed aftermarkets. I had to fabricate the mounting piece and also drill the chassis in order to mount the fog lights. I also had to drill holes using a door handle bore drill piece to get the proper hole size for the PIAAs.
I have PIAAs working with the button modification from evilution.
