K&N air filter

I got my K&N filter E-8257from VIP discount auto parts in 3 days at a cost of $38.28 DELIEVERED (TO THE STORE). Filter is in place but these mods were done first http://www.evilution.co.uk/index.php...=95&men=engine and I did my own scoop nod http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=7561371 and http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=7561370.

I am 200 miles in to my first tank and @ 200 miles the second blob JUST went out on the ride home.

I'm expecting high 40s to even low 50s with the simple/cheap mod. check back for complete tank results.

asmartman,
I installed the K&N air filter today and am looking into the other mods you made. The links regarding the scoop nod don't seem to work. Where can I find more info on this? Thanks.

I'm surprised that you had not delipped two years ago when we had discussed it. I did it in the fall of 2007, when I installed the K&N filter and ordered the S-mann scoop. My city/hwy has been low 50s for quite some time. My last two round trips to the East coast from Oregon varied from high 50s to just over 60mpg (87octane for 30,000 miles) (several tanks of E85 and a number of 86 octane).

BTW; How are you ? Give me a call or email me your phone if you've lost it.

I had found the delip procedure and have printed it. I haven't found the scoop nod procedure yet. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I'm in the process of doing the 'easy' updates to the car right now - like improving the oil, air filter, etc.

OOPS! I'd like to correct myself. The delipping and the scoop mod are NOT the same thing.

Delipping the intake means take the air intake cover off and removing the little lip around the entrance to the airbox.

The scoop mod refers to altering the plastic cover on the air intake. I'm trying to find a picture or link or something as I have seen this before. I'll post it once I do.
