Where can I get a replacement gas cap for my 450?

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement gas cap for my 2005 450? I failed to replace it while filling up and it decided not to remain on the roof of my car. Not so Smart of me...

Any 450 Smart in a local junkyard should have one. Might have to take it off though.

I replaced mine with one from a Dodge van, probably about 10 yrs old. Has worked perfectly in the year since. (Salvage yard time ?)

BTW: I drilled horizontally through the bar on the top of the cap and attached a cord which has the other end attached to the protruding spike on the inside of the gas door. To nip this in the bud; The hole in the gas cap do not compromise the seal to the fuel tank.

PM me with your phone # if you need details.

The G&K 450's use the Mercedes fuel cap. Do not use the regular smart fuel cap because it is different. The Mercedes cap also has the plastic wire just like the original smart cap. Sorry I do not have the part number handy.

Garage
You can also get a smart compatible cap which allows you to fuel through it without removing.
Something Ford is making a big deal out of at the moment...

belkin666 thats what my old one had written on it too. I can't get the part from any Mercedes dealer. Its flagged in their system as a part for a 450.

Instead I bought some from Fast Eddy (i think) and they work just as well.

I have saved the ones with the Mercedes part number printed on it as I might be able to replace the seal. It had failed an emissions test so I had to replace it.

FYI, the ones I ordered for a 450 did NOT come with the tether.
