250 mpg vw?

This is from an Aussie publication. They say a two seater may be available, too. Obviously not for the U.S. market.

I would hate to get hit by a semi in just about anything! You could be driving a Hummer and your chances of survival are slim.

Just poking a bit of fun since we smart owners usually get that line, hence the emoticon. There is obviously no mass production vehicle in which one would voluntarily offer up one's self to a speeding semi.

I feel safer than most compact cars and SUVs that are on the road. I'd rather drive the smart in the rain rather than risk it in that old Explorer I use for Home Depot trips.

That's how I totaled my Explorer- in the rain. I can say it was fun going sideways and 70. for about 1 second.
my smart is 13 years newer and has all the advancements in technology that 13 years bring. All else being equal, I feel as safe or safer in this small car compared to a larger car. I'm just pissed that after a year of driving it, I find out that I only have two seats! ( yes some people complain about that AFTER buying the car! )
