Hogwash. Take a look at all of the quality ratings over the last several years, GM and Ford have come a long way. Did somebody hold a gun to the heads of the 1 million buyers of F-150's and Silverado's in 2008? I am one of the millions of Americans who make our livings in the automotive parts supply chain. If it weren't for us your smart wouldn't have that great Bosch brake system on it. It is the wages of Americans that earn a decent living that pays for your social security, it's criminals like Bush that spend it on things (like war) that will take it away. Lets keep hating our fellow Americans, in the end we will get what we deserve - nothing for a lifetime of work.

Yep, nicely done. And, I have to wonder ... if US manufacturers are doing so well, then why do they need the money? I won't take a stand on the bailout, but clearly there IS a problem, or we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Actually - I support the bailout, but with some conditions. The financial bailout bothered me a lot more than the auto bailout; the people who are actually making the cars and the parts that go into them would be the big losers. The corporate executives can take care of themselves. With the financial bailout money went to retreats at fancy resorts for the executives - and yet members of congress insist that the auto plant workers take a pay cut. The CEO's at America's top 10 financial firms received $320 million in pay in 2007 - the same year that those companies reported mortage-related losses of $55 billion. In the auto industry, there is actually very little difference in worker pay for UAW workers and US workers working for foreign companies. But Japanese executives, as a group, average one-tenth the pay of their American counterparts. On average, American auto executives make 300 times what the average auto worker makes.

But I still think the "ad" is very well done - and pretty funny. - sheureka

Eh? How can the US take the credit for Bosch stuff? It's a German company.

1976 First oxygen sensors
1978 Worldwide first anti-lock braking system (ABS)
1979 First electronic engine management system (Motronic)
1986 Traction control system (TCS) on the market
1995 First Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)

Bosch didn't become a major supplier to central America until about 2001.

Evil - I'm not giving the US credit for the items, I do however work for Bosch. We do have to give the US credit for forcing emissions controls and the start of safety standards, for which we are all better off for. Automotive is global, what effects us here, effects the EU, etc. You Brits along with the other EU countries have seen what happens with the export of manufacturing jobs, yours just go out of the EU to the low wage former commie countries. It's called high unemployment, a lowered wage base and less choice - just the opposite of what capitalism is supposed to make happen.
