I was in Austin all of last week for a training course for work. On Thursday morning, my coworker decided we should leave at 7 (even though the other two of us thought sleeping in would be a much better idea!).
We had an argument, being that the third coworker doesn't drive, because she wanted to leave super early AND she wanted to sit in the back and play on her laptop. Excuse me, but I was out until 4 last night so I will be sleeping in the back. End of discussion.
Some time later, I woke up but didn't know why... then I sat up and realized that both windows on my side were broken out, and there was no longer a side mirror... my coworkers were crying, apparently we had been hit really hard. I looked back and a giant maintenance truck had hit us, and the guy opened his door and just fell out of the truck. So he had been hurt pretty bad.
Our fleet vehicle (provided by our employer) was totaled, it was a 2009 Impala too. I had to take care of everything myself even though I didn't know what happened until hours later since I had been sleeping. My coworkers became practically useless when it came to getting things done.
Apparently the coworker that was driving decided to take a left out of the far right lane in a 5-lane street. The guy who hit us was going about 45 (speeding) and smashed in the entirety of the left side of the car. So we were at fault of course.
In the end, we waited 7 hours in a Starbucks for a tow truck to drive from Oklahoma to Austin to deliver a new car and pick up the broken car. Then I got the pleasure of driving the new car back up to Oklahoma. What a day.
