Car shopping suggestions?

All right, all you smart car people, here's your chance. I'm shopping for a car to replace my spouse's '95 Lincoln Town Car - that's the bogey.

1. Need four doors, has to seat at least 5.
2. Lots of trunk room.
3. Auto trans
4. Must be a "large" [full size] car (not as large as the Lincoln though - she hates the current Town Car styling.)
5. Probably a luxury car - she like all the bells and whistles.
6. NOT a van, SUV or crossover - a sedan.
7. American car would be good, but unlikely.
8. Here's the kicker - my only input is it has to get as close to 30 mpg highway as possible.

Have fun and thanks for playing!

Easy...Lexus RX-350, about $40,000! and it's not going to make that 30mpg figure. Buys alot of gas for the town car.

[sound of buzzer] sorry, the RX is an SUV. Can't/won't go there. Thanks anyway.

you looking for highway 30 or combined 30...one is easier to find...the other may be only found with hybrid tech. Is there a price range you are considering?

30 highway is the target - this will be our road trip car. Probably no more than $40K total.

try Saturn Aura Hybrid or regular...both get great gas mileage for their size and would be in your domestic car wants.

Have looked at those and they aren't large enough - otherwise seem to be nice cars. Thanks.

Might be tempted but would wait until the GM merger when they give you a Chrysler if you buy a Tahoe.

only other option would be to go hybrid and it wont be domestic. Nothing large is in the 30MPG range...at least not to my knowledge...only thing I knew of was the aura and its a nice feat they got so much better MPG than others in the market
