Cheepest car in america

Sure the Smart is the smallest car, but what is the cheepest.

The new Versa sedan will be offered with a 1.6-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine as opposed to the 1.8-liter currently found in the Versa sedan and hatchback. This model will come equipped with a five-speed manual transmission that, combined with the new engine, will help it achieve 34 mpg highway

This will come in at $9,990 with 0% financing available.

So unlike Toyotas 0% financing they will be encourageing folks to buy an efficant car.

I want a crystal ball. I want to look toward the year 2020, and see what percentage of 2008 smarts and what percentage of 2008 Versas will still be on the road.
How about the same vehicles in 2028. I suspect low numbers for both, but probably higher for the smart.

1.6-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine
five-speed manual transmission
different seat cloth
14-inch wheels w/ wheel covers
less chrome accents

Stripped down Versa, sort of hard to imagine. 34 mpg highway is not bad, but the smart is rated at 36 mpg combined. Still, the Versa seats more than two and has four doors and a trunk, which will appeal to some people at that price.

Well with this as an option why would anyone buy a Aveo now.

Even the yaris seems silly now.

I have a versa Hatchback as our family car with the Xtronic CVT™ (Continuously Variable Transmission) and it is a great compliment to the Smart.

for that MPG of the versa, might as well buy a kia rio. I get 34 out of it right now and you can pick them up used for 9k. And they are broken in. Hehe

Do not get me wrong, but I will get brand new Nissan over used Kia in the heartbeat.
Problem is that once you add AC and transmission it is not cheapest car anymore....

That is a loaded question!!!
Actually Versa is have "good" rating all around by NHTSA standards. No way it is Smart competitor (not that it is better or worse). It is aimed at completely different crowd. If somebody looking for CHEAPEST (brand new) transportation from point A to point B, here it is........

I prefer the term "least expensive" , cheapest just sounds...cheap.
