Chevy Bolt named Car of the Year at the Detroit Auto Show

Quote:
The Bolt beat the Genesis G90 and Volvo S90 to claim the honor, which was announced by the North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year jury on their Twitter account.

The vehicle is GM's first mass-market electric car, and has already won the Motor Trend Car of the Year award in November and the Green Car of the Year award at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

The Bolt is estimated to go 238 miles on a single charge, and with a retail price of around $30,000 after tax breaks is less than half the price of the Tesla Model S and Model X -- the only other cars sold in the US that go more than 200 miles on a charge.

A very well-deserved honor. It's a great offering, only marred by its cheapo-feeling interior.

Motor Trend just gave it their car of the year award. The new issue, just did a comparison test, to a new Tesla. It's fast, holds 5 passenger, has a great EV range. Well appointed interior, and comfort features. Good cargo space. Price $41K. The best EV out there, to buy so far.

Agreed. The cool thing about Elon Musk is that he welcomes pushing EVs out into the wild, especially high range ones like the Bolt.

Similarly, I actually agree with him, I bet GM could sell more Bolts than they think.

Looks like the Chevy Bolt will have Charge Point access - Chevrolet will need to back Charge Point in the roll out of more DC fast charge locations to make the Bolt a true national transporter (as Tesla is doing), and not just a local commuter.
