Chevy equals smart mileage

MPG (city)
33

MPG (highway)
41

MPG (combined)
36

Fuel Type
Diesel

We have revised the 1985-2007 MPG estimates to make them comparable to the new 2008 MPG estimates!

From www.fueleconomy.gov

OK, it's a 1985 Chevette diesel (!) but the mpg numbers are very smart like.

jwight - Well, at first I thought, doesn't the diesel smart get about 71 MPG? That would blow the Chevette milage away!! I do like the thought that GM could bring a high milage vehicle like the smart to the market but I believe their management just can't get the concept into production!!

"smart" and "chevy" don't belong in the same sentence.

Not as long as they are in Big Petro's back pocket.

There are plenty of cars made by many different companeis from the '80s & '90s that blow away the Smart for mpg. The Metro and CRX both get in the mid-40s (using the new epa estimates). The only things you had to give up were safety, emmissions, and comfort.

And let's not forget style, although the CRX was pretty stylin' for its time.

This is a no-brainer. Anyone who would rather be seen in a Chevette Diesel instead of a Smart, please speak now...

I guess the big green smiley wasn't enough indication that this was meant as a humorous comparison. As in not to be taken seriously.
